Our courses offered in the area of traditional animation are based off of popular techniques used in classical animation and stop-motion animation. In traditional animation, you can create a movie by taking pictures of a drawing or clay model frame-by-frame and then playing all the pictures extra fast to give the illusion that they are moving! Some 2D examples of traditional animation include: flip books, Disney movies, and early cartoons. Some 3D examples of traditional animation includes: claymation, cut-out paper animation, and puppet animation.
2D Animation: (ages 6-15)
Using paper, pencils, pens, and more: in 2D animation you will learn the foundations of traditional animation and techniques that have been around since the early 1900’s! Create your own Lion King or Alice in Wonderland with a stroke of a paint brush! A vibrant imagination and love of drawing are the only requirements necessary.
Claymation: (ages 6-15)
Have you seen Early Man or Missing Link and wondered how they made clay come to life? In this course, you will learn the art of Claymation and various techniques used by professional animators in Hollywood. Voice-over your characters too! Future filmmakers are born here…
Paper Animation: (ages 6-15)
Imagine what you can create with just scissors and paper! Bring characters or objects to life with the magic of movement. Cutting out shapes is the first step, putting them together is the second, and then making them move is the last! Fun fact: the cartoon Blue’s Clues was made with paper!
